Does it hurt to get your ears pierced?

Ok,so I have my ears pierced,I got them done when I was a baby but when I got a little older I took my earrings out and I never put them back in,now,I want to put earrings in SOLO bad.the holes in the back are basically closed and the holes in the front are there but there tiny.Can I get them done with a gun or the needle?I have asked people to do it for me but I always wimp out and I don't let them do it.If I get them done with the gun and tell them about the holes what will they say?and if I can get them done with the gun will it hurt?If I get them done with the needle,will it hurt?what will it feel like?how can I relax and calm down?What is the process of getting it done,how do they do it?I am absolutely,so terrified of needles its not even funny.I want this done SO bad but Im so scared! I would love to wear earrings but Im just concerned if I should either get them done with the gun or the needle.I don't know which one.It drives me crazy,people tell me it doesn't hurt at all to get it done.But seriously,does it hurt really bad?how can I relax?I have tried to do it myself but I never have the courage to push the earrings in,I get to scared.please help!
