My ear piercing scabbed up and closed over one side?

so i have 3 holes in each ear, i usually dont wear earrings in my third holes because they get irritated really easily, for example sitting my head on a pillow. this summer i put earrings in and my one ear got really infected so i took the earring out. after i took it out it kept scabbing over, and when i say "kept" was because i kept picking at it. i know that was an idiot move on my part but i have dermatillomania. now i want to put an earring back in it but it seems as if the skin healed over the hole and i cant put an earring back in it. do you think i could put it in through the back or do you think its closed up completely? any help is appreciated.
