I have these strange wood tokens. They were in a Antique item. What are they?

They are little wood tokens and they say, "J.W. Howard Smithfield ILL" on them." there is also a "5" on the tokens. I have 3 of them. they appear to be very old. does anyone know what what they are and if they are worth anything?
