Will having heaps and lights in my small room look weird?

I am decorating my SMALL room. I have decided on making it like 'elegant messy' (is that even a style) with vases,flowers, jewelery boxes and beautiful throws everywhere. My only problem is i was wondering would it look weird having heaps of lights and lamps everywhere? I want to put a chandelier in but i have a fan in the middle of my ceiling. I want it to have all different things and be like a kind of jewelry box sought of room but not have the appearance of a messy and mismatched place.
